It has been 30 anniversary since the first Toy Story movie debuted, establishing Pixar as a leading film company and introducing audiences to beloved figures like Woody (Tom Hanks) and the space ranger (the voice talent), who are now household names.

In 2026, the fifth installment is set to arrive. The initial preview for Toy Story 5 landed this week, offering a glimpse into the plot but keeping fans wondering how it will resolve the conclusion of Toy Story 4.

The Latest Addition: A Frog-Shaped Tablet Spooks the Toys

In the teaser reveals the young girl — who received the toy collection when he left for college — receiving a brand new toy, one that terrifies Woody, Buzz, and the crew. She acquires her initial digital gadget, and she is thrilled about it.

Theoretically, the amphibian-inspired device will come to life just like Bonnie's other toys. However, the toys seem to view it as a threat coming to replace them, which it probably is.

Woody's Return: Unanswered Questions from Toy Story 4

One thing the teaser doesn't touch on is why the sheriff is returned with his companions in the child's bedroom. The finale of Toy Story 4 saw him embark on a fresh journey with Bo Peep (Annie Potts), journeying with a carnival and assisting prize toys find good homes.

Certainly, Pixar will explain the aftermath of Toy Story 4 in the movie. Seeing him appear in Bonnie's room without warning is somewhat puzzling, though. It also makes us wonder whether Bo Peep will have returned with him. And what about the stuntman toy (the star)?

Continuity from the Last Installment

Fortunately, some aspects are carrying over from the earlier movie. The last thing the cowboy did before departing for his fresh path was hand over his sheriff badge to the cowgirl (the voice actor), leaving her as the leader of Bonnie's bedroom. In the teaser shows the badge attached to her shirt.

Hopefully she is still the key figure among the group.
