Cars in Germany's City Found Covered with Swastikas in Human Blood, Police Confirm

Officers mentioned they were notified by a resident who noticed a car in Hanau smeared with reddish fluid

Roughly 50 vehicles have been covered with what seems to be human blood in the Germany's town of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, as reported by police.

Automobiles, exterior walls and postal boxes were vandalized, sometimes with swastikas, they reported in a statement.

Police state they were contacted in the late hours on Wednesday, when a man discovered that a automobile in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been marked with a reddish-hued substance.

The substance had been applied in the shape of a banned symbol, they added.

Law enforcement then located many other smeared cars and house walls in the nearby vicinity.

Nazi symbols are banned in Germany under regulations banning the public exhibition of Nazi symbols.

Officials say early analysis suggest the substance was probably human blood.

"Currently there is no indication as to its origin; authorities are not yet aware of any physical harm in connection with the event," they stated.

Municipal representatives stated they were attempting "to solve the mystery" and have requested to the residents for tips.

An important political figure commented the attack left him stunned and needed to be solved quickly.

"This incident strikes at the very heart of Hanau and revives the pain of the extremist terrorist attack five years ago," he wrote on online, recalling the death of nine victims by a shooter aiming at residents of migrant background in 2020.
